Update 28 Meta Overview
Update 28 brought significant changes to PvP: Tiger fruit (reworked from Leopard) now dominates with its Hunt mechanic that resets cooldowns on hit, enabling infinite combo extensions. Kitsune and Dough remain top-tier. Gas has risen dramatically due to its persistent damage clouds and Logia passthrough immunity. The level cap is now 3000, so stat builds have evolved — full Fruit + Defense + Melee builds are now viable without compromising any category.
The Update 28 PvP Meta
PvP in Blox Fruits is a completely different game from PvE. The fruits that dominate grinding (Buddha, Magma) are borderline useless in player-vs-player combat. What matters in PvP is stun duration, combo potential, mobility, and Instinct-breaking capability.
As of Update 28 (Feb 2026), here's the PvP tier list:
S Tier — Ban-Worthy Picks
- Leopard — The best overall PvP fruit. Leopard's transformed state gives you insane mobility, every move stuns, and the damage output is ridiculous. Z move deals ~8,500 damage at max mastery.
- Dough (Awakened) — Dough's awakened moveset has the longest stun chains in the game. You can combo someone from 100% to 0% without them being able to move.
- Spirit — Arguably S-tier but it has a steep learning curve. Spirit's soul separation mechanic lets you attack from two angles simultaneously. In the hands of a skilled player, it's almost impossible to counter.
A Tier — Consistently Strong
- Venom — Poison ticks add up fast. Venom's transform gives great mobility and its X move breaks Instinct.
- Control — Area denial king. Control's room ability lets you teleport enemies into your combo range.
- Dragon — Big damage, good mobility in transform. Falls to S-tier players but dominates everyone else.
- Blizzard — Freezing mechanic is a free combo starter. Very forgiving for beginners.
B Tier — Situationally Good
- Magma (Awakened) — The puddle mechanic zones well but you're vulnerable during setup.
- Light — Fast attacks but low stun. Good for hit-and-run.
- Ice — Freeze is strong but predictable. Experienced players will bait it.
⚠️ Warning: Tier lists are guidelines, not gospel. A skilled Light user will destroy a bad Leopard user every time. Execution matters more than fruit choice.
PvP Stat Build
Your stat distribution for PvP should look like this at max level (2550):
Fruit Main Build (Most Common):
- Melee: 400
- Defense: 400
- Fruit: 1750
- Sword: 0
- Gun: 0
Sword Hybrid Build:
- Melee: 400
- Defense: 400
- Sword: 1750
- Fruit: 0
- Gun: 0
Gun Build (Niche):
- Melee: 400
- Defense: 400
- Gun: 1750
- Fruit: 0
- Sword: 0
Why 400 Melee and 400 Defense? Because both stats have soft caps where additional points give diminishing returns. 400 in each gives you enough HP to survive a combo and enough M1 damage to trade effectively.
💡 Pro Tip: Some top players run 0 Defense and put those 400 points into Fruit for max damage. It's a glass cannon build — you'll hit harder but die in one combo. Only do this if you're confident in your dodging.
Combo Structure 101
Every PvP combo in Blox Fruits follows the same basic structure:
Opener → Extender → Finisher
- Opener: A move that stuns, pulls, or teleports the enemy. This starts the combo. If your opener misses, back off and try again.
- Extender: Keeps the enemy locked in the combo. Usually a move with a long stun or a move that repositions the enemy close to you.
- Finisher: Your highest damage move. Used at the end when the enemy can't dodge.
Between fruit moves, you weave in M1s (melee clicks) to keep the combo going. More on that below.
S-Tier Combo Chains
Leopard Combo (Transformed)
- Leopard C (Predatory Leap — gap closer + stun)
- → M1 x3
- → Leopard Z (Feral Lunge — 8,500 damage)
- → M1 x3
- → Leopard X (Savage Rush — multi-hit)
- → Leopard V (Finisher — knockback)
Total damage: ~22,000–25,000 at max mastery. That's enough to kill most players in one combo.
💡 Pro Tip: Start every Leopard combo with C, not Z. Z is your highest damage move but C is your fastest stun. If you open with Z and miss, you're stuck in endlag and the enemy will punish you.
Dough (Awakened) Combo
- Dough V (Piercing Clothesline — stun + pull)
- → M1 x4
- → Dough C (Pastry River — long stun)
- → Dough Z (Missile Jab — heavy damage)
- → M1 x2
- → Dough X (Restless Dough Barrage — finisher)
Total damage: ~20,000–23,000. Dough's advantage is the stun duration — the enemy literally cannot move for the entire combo.
Spirit Combo
- Spirit Z (Soul Separation — deploy soul)
- → Spirit X with soul (simultaneous attack from two directions)
- → M1 x3
- → Spirit C (Soul Grab — pull + stun)
- → M1 x3
- → Spirit V (Finisher)
Total damage: ~18,000–21,000. Lower than Leopard but the two-angle attack makes it nearly impossible to dodge if executed correctly.
⚠️ Warning: Spirit's soul separation has a learning curve. If you mis-position the soul, your combo does half damage. Spend at least an hour in practice before taking it to PvP.
Instinct Break Mechanics
Instinct (Observation Haki) is the #1 defensive mechanic in PvP. It auto-dodges attacks up to a certain number of times before it breaks. At max level, Instinct gives you about 6–9 auto-dodges depending on your training.
To combo someone, you first need to break their Instinct. Here's how:
- Instinct-breaking moves: Certain fruit moves have the "Instinct Break" property. These moves will hit through Instinct dodges and consume dodge charges. Check the wiki for which moves in your kit break Instinct.
- M1 spam: Each M1 hit consumes one Instinct dodge. If an enemy has 7 dodges, hit them with 7 M1s and their Instinct is broken.
- AoE attacks: Some area-of-effect moves can hit through Instinct if the enemy is within the damage zone.
Best Instinct-breaking fruits: Venom X, Dough V, Leopard C, Control Z. All of these break Instinct on first hit.
💡 Pro Tip: Against good players, don't waste your combo starter before breaking their Instinct. Instead, throw out M1s or use a cheap Instinct-breaking move first, then start your real combo once their dodges are down.
M1 Trading — The Skill That Separates Good From Great
M1 trading is when two players exchange melee hits. It sounds simple but the timing is everything.
How M1 trading works:
- Both players spam M1 (melee click)
- Each hit staggers the opponent briefly
- The player who lands the last M1 in the chain gets to start their combo
Tips for winning M1 trades:
- Don't panic-click. Spamming M1 randomly loses to someone who times their clicks. Wait for the stagger animation to end, then click.
- Use an M1-cancelling fighting style. Sanguine Art and Godhuman have the fastest M1 recovery in the game.
- Jump M1s. Clicking M1 in the air gives a slightly different timing that throws off opponents.
- After winning the trade, immediately use your combo starter. Don't wait — the stagger window from your last M1 is short.
Counter Strategies
How to Beat Leopard
- Leopard users ALWAYS open with C (leap). Bait it out by staying on the ground, then dash away when you see the animation.
- Leopard's transform has a timer. If you can run out the clock, they lose their best moves.
- Use a fruit with range (Control, Spirit) to keep distance. Leopard is weak at long range.
How to Beat Dough
- Dough's V (clothesline) is the combo starter. It has a telegraphed animation — dash sideways when you see it.
- Dough users are vulnerable during Pastry River (C). If they miss, they're stuck in endlag for ~1 second. Punish hard.
- Stay airborne. Most of Dough's moves are ground-targeted.
How to Beat Buddha (in PvP)
- Buddha is actually bad in PvP. The giant hitbox means every attack hits them. Just combo them — they can't dodge.
- Don't let Buddha users M1 trade you though. Their range advantage in M1s is real.
Final PvP Tips
- Practice combos in private servers first. Grab a friend and spar. Trying to learn combos in bounty hunting is a recipe for frustration.
- Watch your cooldowns. Every fruit move has a cooldown. If you waste your opener and it's on cooldown, you're defenseless for 5–8 seconds.
- Positioning wins fights. The player who controls spacing (distance between you and the enemy) controls the fight. Don't chase — bait.
- Record your fights. Seriously. Watch replays and you'll see mistakes you never noticed in the moment.
