Update 28 Build Changes
With the level cap raised to 3000, the total available stat points increased significantly. You can now fully max two stat categories (Fruit + Defense at 3000 each) and still bank substantial points in Melee for energy. This makes hybrid builds far more viable than in previous updates.
Top fruits for each build:
- PvP: Tiger (Hunt mechanic), Dough (Awakened), Kitsune, Dragon
- Grinding: Buddha, Magma, Phoenix, Tiger
- Bossing: Dough (Awakened), Dragon, Kitsune
Why Your Stat Build Matters
In Blox Fruits, you earn stat points every time you level up. By max level (3000), you'll have a total of 7,650 stat points to distribute across five categories: Melee, Defense, Sword, Gun, and Fruit.
Here's the thing — most players waste stat points. They spread them evenly across all five stats and wonder why they deal no damage and die in two hits. Don't be that player.
Your stat build should match your playstyle. A PvP player needs a completely different distribution than a grinder. This guide gives you the exact numbers for every scenario.
Understanding Stat Scaling
Before we get into builds, you need to understand how stat scaling works:
- Each stat increases its associated damage type and gives a small HP/energy bonus
- Diminishing returns kick in around 2,000–2,500 points in a single stat
- Soft caps: The first 400 points in any stat give the most value per point
- Hard caps: Past 2,500 points, each additional point gives very little
This means the optimal strategy is to max out 1–2 damage stats and put 400 into Melee and Defense for the HP/energy baseline.
💡 Pro Tip: You can view your exact stat bonuses by opening the stats menu and hovering over each category. The percentage increase is shown — once it drops below 0.1% per point, you've hit diminishing returns.
The Grinding Build (PvE)
This build is designed for one thing: killing NPCs as fast as possible to maximize XP/hour.
Stat Distribution (Max Level):
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 2,550 | Max melee/fighting style damage |
| Defense | 400 | Baseline survivability |
| Sword | 0 | Not used |
| Gun | 0 | Not used |
| Fruit | 4,700 | Max fruit ability damage |
Why this works: When grinding, you want to one-shot or two-shot mobs. Splitting points between Melee and Fruit lets you deal massive damage with both your fighting style and fruit moves. You alternate between the two based on cooldowns, so both being maxed keeps your DPS consistent.
Defense at 400 gives you enough HP to tank a few hits while surrounded by mobs. You don't need more because:
- Buddha's transform gives bonus HP
- Logia passively dodges hits from lower-level enemies
- If you're dying to grinding mobs, you're at the wrong spot
Alternative Grinding Build (Budget):
If you're mid-level and don't have enough points for the full build:
| Stat | Percentage | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 35% | High |
| Defense | 15% | Low |
| Fruit | 50% | Highest |
Scale this as you level up. Always prioritize Fruit and Melee over Defense.
⚠️ Warning: Do NOT put points into Sword or Gun if you're using a fruit + fighting style grinding setup. Those points are completely wasted. Every point in Sword while using Superhuman is a point that could have been in Melee or Fruit.
The PvP Build (Fruit Main)
This is the most common competitive PvP build. It maximizes fruit damage while maintaining enough Melee for M1 trading.
Stat Distribution (Max Level):
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 400 | M1 damage + HP baseline |
| Defense | 400 | Survivability baseline |
| Sword | 0 | Not used |
| Gun | 0 | Not used |
| Fruit | 6,850 | Maximum fruit ability damage |
Why this works: PvP revolves around landing fruit combos. The higher your Fruit stat, the more damage your combo does. At 6,850 Fruit, your abilities hit absurdly hard.
The 400 in Melee and Defense is there for M1 trades (you need Melee damage to win M1 exchanges) and to survive the first hit of an enemy combo (400 Defense gives you just enough HP).
💡 Pro Tip: Some top PvP players run a "glass cannon" variant with 0 Defense and 7,250 Fruit. Your combos one-shot most players but you die if you get caught in a combo yourself. It's high risk, high reward — only run this if you're confident in your spacing and dodging.
Alternative PvP Build (Sword Main):
If you prefer sword combat over fruit combat:
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 400 | M1 damage baseline |
| Defense | 400 | Survivability |
| Sword | 6,850 | Maximum sword damage |
| Gun | 0 | Not used |
| Fruit | 0 | Use fruit for utility only, not damage |
Sword builds pair well with fruits that provide stuns and mobility rather than raw damage. Control, Ice, and Dark are popular choices for sword mains because they set up sword combos.
The Boss Build (Tanky DPS)
Boss fights require you to survive longer than in regular grinding. Bosses have massive HP pools and hit hard, so you need a balance of damage and survivability.
Stat Distribution (Max Level):
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 1,500 | Good fighting style damage |
| Defense | 1,500 | High survivability |
| Sword | 0 | Not used |
| Gun | 0 | Not used |
| Fruit | 4,650 | Strong fruit damage |
Why this works: Boss fights are wars of attrition. You need enough Defense to survive their attacks (especially raid bosses that can one-shot a glass cannon build), enough Melee for DPS between cooldowns, and enough Fruit to deal meaningful damage with abilities.
1,500 Defense gives you roughly 40% more HP than the 400 baseline. Against a boss like rip_indra who deals 3,000+ per hit, that's the difference between surviving 3 hits and surviving 5 hits.
⚠️ Warning: Don't use a boss build for regular grinding. You'll kill mobs 30–40% slower than a dedicated grinding build. Swap builds when you swap activities.
The Hybrid Build (Recommended for New Players)
If you're still figuring out your playstyle, or if you do a mix of PvP and PvE, this balanced build works for everything:
Stat Distribution (Max Level):
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 1,200 | Solid M1 and fighting style damage |
| Defense | 800 | Comfortable survivability |
| Sword | 0 | Not used |
| Gun | 0 | Not used |
| Fruit | 5,650 | Strong fruit damage |
Why this works: You're not the best at anything, but you're good at everything. You can grind efficiently, hold your own in PvP, and survive boss fights. This is the "I don't want to reset my stats every time I switch activities" build.
Honestly? For 90% of players, this is the right build. Unless you're competitively focused on one specific activity, the hybrid build will serve you well.
💡 Pro Tip: Start with the Hybrid Build. Play for a week. Notice what you spend most of your time doing. THEN reset to a specialized build for that activity. Don't over-optimize before you know your playstyle.
The Gun Build (Niche)
Gun builds exist but they're niche. Guns in Blox Fruits are primarily used for specific PvP strategies involving range and zoning.
Stat Distribution (Max Level):
| Stat | Points | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Melee | 400 | Baseline |
| Defense | 400 | Baseline |
| Sword | 0 | Not used |
| Gun | 6,850 | Maximum gun damage |
| Fruit | 0 | Use fruit for utility |
Gun builds pair with fruits like Light (fast projectiles) or Control (positioning utility). They excel at keeping distance and chipping health. But they struggle against aggressive fruit users who can close the gap.
I won't sugarcoat it — gun builds are generally weaker than fruit or sword builds in the current meta. But they're fun if that's your thing.
When to Reset Stats (and How)
You can reset your stat points in two ways:
-
Stat Reset Code: Check our Blox Fruits Codes page for active codes that include stat resets. These are free and refresh periodically.
-
Stat Refund NPC: Located in the Frozen Village (Sea 1) and Kingdom of Rose (Sea 2). Costs 2,500,000 Beli per reset. Not cheap, but affordable at higher levels.
When should you reset?
- When you hit a new sea (Sea 2 at 700, Sea 3 at 1500) — your needs change
- When you switch fruits — a new fruit might need a different stat balance
- When you switch from grinding to PvP or vice versa
- When you realize your current build feels weak
💡 Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to reset often. The Beli cost is trivial at high levels, and codes give free resets regularly. A proper build can make you 2–3x more effective instantly. There's no excuse for running a bad build.
