Follow the Beginner Path while clearing early Story stages. Its objectives introduce the core progression systems and provide a clearer order for summons, upgrades, Traits, and later Evolution decisions.
Traits modify a unit through the game's reroll system, while Evolution is a separate progression path that can improve a unit after its required materials are collected. Save limited reroll and evolution resources until you understand which role your team needs.
Move into Expedition after building a dependable Story team and learning its upgrade order. The mode is a separate progression step, and the EXPEDITIONS code also requires Expedition mode to be unlocked before redemption.
