2026 Race Tier List
S-Tier: Draco, Ghoul A-Tier: Angel, Cyborg B-Tier: Human, Shark C-Tier: Rabbit (Mink)
Ghoul is the current #1 for PvP — its life leech lets you heal while dealing damage, making it incredibly hard to outlast in a fight. Draco is a close second, with exceptional race-specific bonuses and the strongest V4 transformation. Rabbit (formerly Mink) has fallen to C-tier in the current meta despite its excellent mobility, as the higher-tier races provide more combat utility.
What Are Races in Blox Fruits?
When you create your character, you're randomly assigned one of six races. Your race gives you a unique passive ability that affects gameplay in subtle but important ways. At first, the differences seem small. But once you upgrade to V2 and V3, your race becomes a significant part of your power.
As of Update 28 (Feb 2026), there are six races: Human, Mink, Fishman, Skypiean, Cyborg, and Ghoul. You start with one randomly, but you can change your race later (more on that below).
💡 Pro Tip: Don't stress about your starting race too much. You can reroll it for 3,000 Fragments or 90 Robux at the Race Reroll NPC in the Second Sea (Kingdom of Rose). That said, knowing which race you want BEFORE rerolling saves you Fragments.
All 6 Races — Base Abilities
Human
Passive (V1): 1.5x faster last-hit recovery (you recover from knockback slightly faster)
Human is the "default" race. Its V1 passive is barely noticeable. Nobody picks Human intentionally at V1. BUT — and this is a big but — Human V3 is arguably the best race in the game. More on that in the V3 section.
Mink
Passive (V1): 1.5x faster movement speed
Mink is the speed race. You run noticeably faster than other races at V1, and this makes early-game questing and grinding smoother. It's a simple passive, but speed is always useful.
Fishman
Passive (V1): Faster swim speed + can breathe underwater
Fishman's V1 passive is extremely niche. Underwater content is limited in Blox Fruits, and you rarely need to swim. This race gets much better at V2/V3, but at V1 it's the weakest option.
Skypiean
Passive (V1): Regenerate health slowly when above ground (jumping/flying)
Skypiean's V1 passive provides passive regeneration while airborne. It's okay for PvE since you can jump between fights to regen instead of using food. For PvP, it's marginal.
Cyborg
Passive (V1): Take 10% less damage from all sources
Cyborg is the tanky race. A flat 10% damage reduction doesn't sound like much, but it stacks with Defense stats and makes a noticeable difference in extended fights. Good for boss fights and PvP.
Ghoul
Passive (V1): Regenerate health when dealing damage (lifesteal)
Ghoul is unique — it's the only race you can't randomly spawn with. You have to unlock it through a special quest (covered below). The lifesteal passive is incredibly strong for grinding because you never need to stop and heal.
⚠️ Warning: Ghoul requires completing a quest chain in the Second Sea and costs 100 Ectoplasm. Don't attempt it until you're at least Level 1000 with a decent fruit. The enemies in the quest are tough.
How to Unlock Ghoul Race
- Go to the Graveyard in the Second Sea (you need to be Level 1000+)
- Find the Experimic NPC — he's in a hidden area behind the main graveyard
- Collect 100 Ectoplasm by killing Zombies and Ghosts in the Graveyard area (they drop 1–3 each, so expect to kill ~50–75 enemies)
- Bring the Ectoplasm to Experimic along with 50 Bones (dropped by the same enemies)
- He'll transform you into a Ghoul
The whole process takes about 30–60 minutes of focused farming. It's worth it — Ghoul's lifesteal makes grinding significantly smoother.
V2 Upgrades — The Mid-Game Power Spike
Each race can be upgraded to V2, which dramatically improves the passive ability. V2 also unlocks a unique visual effect and a new active ability.
V2 Upgrade Requirements (All Races)
To unlock V2 for any race, you need to complete the Alchemist's Quest in the Second Sea:
- Talk to the Alchemist in the Green Zone (Second Sea)
- He'll ask you to gather 3 items:
- Flower (random drop from Green Zone enemies, ~5% drop rate)
- Blue Gear (random drop from Factory enemies in Kingdom of Rose, ~3% drop rate)
- Red Gear (random drop from Snow Lurkers in Snow Mountain, ~3% drop rate)
- Bring all 3 items to the Alchemist
- He'll upgrade your race to V2
⚠️ Warning: The drop rates are low. Expect to spend 1–3 hours farming for all three items. Use a private server to reduce competition for enemy spawns.
V2 Passive Upgrades
| Race | V2 Passive | PvP Rating | PvE Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human | Last-hit recovery becomes instant + small damage boost after recovery | B | B |
| Mink | 2x movement speed + brief dash ability | A | A |
| Fishman | 2x swim speed + water walking + bonus damage to sea enemies | C | B |
| Skypiean | Regen rate doubled + works on the ground too (slowly) | B | A |
| Cyborg | 15% damage reduction + energy shield active ability | A | B |
| Ghoul | Lifesteal increased to 5% of damage dealt + night vision | A | S |
💡 Pro Tip: Ghoul V2 is the best PvE race in the game. 5% lifesteal means you're healing with every attack. Combined with Buddha's AoE hitting 6+ mobs at once, you're basically unkillable while grinding. Go Ghoul if you grind a lot.
V3 Upgrades — The Endgame Race Power
V3 is where races become truly game-changing. V3 passives are strong enough to influence PvP matchups and grinding efficiency.
V3 Upgrade Requirements
V3 is significantly harder to unlock than V2. You need to complete the King's Quest in the Third Sea:
- Be Level 1500+ and have V2 already unlocked
- Talk to King Red Head on the Floating Turtle (Third Sea)
- Complete 3 challenges:
- Defeat 5 Elite Pirates (Level 2000+ enemies that spawn randomly in the Third Sea)
- Complete 3 Raids (any raid, must be completed — no failing)
- Deal 50,000 total damage in PvP (bounty hunting counts)
- Return to King Red Head with all 3 challenges completed
- He'll upgrade your race to V3
This takes most players a few days to a week depending on how much they play.
V3 Passive Upgrades
| Race | V3 Passive | Game-Changer? |
|---|---|---|
| Human | Angel of Death — Upon dropping below 20% HP, gain a massive damage boost (2x damage) for 10 seconds. 3-minute cooldown. | YES. This is insane for PvP. You're losing a fight, you hit 20% HP, and suddenly your combo does double damage. Clutch potential is unreal. |
| Mink | Lightning Dash — 3x movement speed + Electro Dash that stuns enemies on contact. 15-second cooldown. | Good. The stun-on-dash is a free combo opener. Very strong for aggressive PvP. |
| Fishman | Aqua Aura — Take 20% less damage in water + all moves deal 15% more damage. Passive water armor. | Decent. The 15% damage boost is nice but it's not as flashy as other V3s. |
| Skypiean | Wings of Icarus — Unlimited flight duration + increased fly speed + regen while flying is 3x faster. | Great for mobility but doesn't directly increase combat power. Best for exploration and running away. |
| Cyborg | Energy Core — 20% damage reduction + when you block, 30% of blocked damage is reflected back to the attacker. | Strong. Damage reflection punishes aggressive players. Pairs well with tanky builds. |
| Ghoul | Blood Moon — Lifesteal increased to 8% + when you kill an enemy, heal 15% of your max HP instantly. | Outstanding for PvE. Every kill heals you. Combined with AoE grinding, you're effectively immortal. |
Which Race Should You Pick?
Here's the decision tree:
For PvP: Go Human. Yes, really. Human V3's "Angel of Death" passive is the strongest PvP race ability in the game. The 2x damage boost at low HP has won more bounty hunts than any other race ability. Alternatively, Mink V3 is great for aggressive players who want a stun-on-dash opener.
For PvE Grinding: Go Ghoul. The lifesteal at V2 and the kill-heal at V3 mean you never stop grinding. No food, no resting, just continuous farming. It synergizes perfectly with Buddha.
For Bossing: Go Cyborg. The flat damage reduction and V3 damage reflection help you survive long boss fights. Pair with a Boss Build for maximum tankiness.
If You're Not Sure: Go Mink. Speed is universally useful. You'll travel between islands faster, reposition in fights faster, and the V3 stun-dash works in both PvP and PvE.
💡 Pro Tip: Don't spend Fragments rerolling your race until you've at least read the V3 section above. A race that seems weak at V1 (like Human) becomes the best in the game at V3. Plan ahead.
Race Change FAQ
Q: Can I change my race? A: Yes. Use the Race Reroll NPC in the Second Sea (Kingdom of Rose). It costs 3,000 Fragments or 90 Robux per reroll. The reroll is random — you can't choose which race you get.
Q: Do I keep my V2/V3 progress when I reroll? A: No. If you reroll from Mink V3 to Human, you start at Human V1. You'll need to redo the V2 and V3 quests. This is why you should be very sure before rerolling.
Q: What's the rarest race? A: All races have equal spawn rates except Ghoul (which must be unlocked). Among the random races, they're all equally common.
Q: How do I get Ghoul without being in the Second Sea? A: You can't. Ghoul requires access to the Graveyard in the Second Sea (Level 1000+ area). No shortcuts.
⚠️ Warning: Rerolling from a V3 race is a huge investment loss. The V3 quest chain takes days. Only reroll if you're absolutely certain you want a different race. Test your current race at V3 before making the switch.
