Update 11 Meta Overview
Update 11 reshuffled the top tier significantly. New top units:
- King of Dragons — S+ tier, Mythical unit with Flame Nuke AoE. Best unit for raids.
- Radiant Monarch — S+ tier, Mythical powerhouse for all game modes.
- Shadow Dragon — SS tier, 1% Divine Wish drop rate. Entirely AoE-based Attack Aspect.
- Dark Revenant — S tier, Dark Atomic Punishment can instantly destroy bosses.
- Pink Rockstar (Support) — S tier, 20% damage buff for ALL allies in range. Essential in every team.
Best Units to Build Around (Infinite Mode Meta)
Let's cut through the noise. You want to know which units are actually worth investing in — not which ones look cool or have flashy animations, but which ones will carry you through Wave 100+ in Infinite Mode and make Story Mode feel like a joke.
As of the latest patch (Feb 2026), the meta has shifted pretty hard. Here's what's actually good, why it's good, and how to build around it.
The SSS Tier — Build Your Team Around These
These are the units that define the meta. If you have any of these, they should be your first max-level, first Apex trait priority.
Shadow Dragon (Ground / DPS)
- Base DPS: 320K at max level
- Apex Trait DPS: 850K+ at max level
- Cost: 1,200 Gold to deploy, 8,500 Gold to max upgrade
- Range: Medium (12 tiles)
- Why it's broken: Shadow Dragon's passive ability, "Void Slash," deals splash damage in a cone that hits up to 8 enemies simultaneously. In Infinite Mode where enemies stack up, this turns a single-target DPS unit into an AoE monster. With Apex trait (+40% DMG), you're looking at the highest sustained damage output in the game. Period.
- Best Trait: Apex. No contest. Emperor is okay if you can't roll Apex, but the 40% raw damage boost is too valuable on a unit with this base DPS.
Pro Tip: Place Shadow Dragon at a corner where enemies bunch up before turning. The cone splash hits the entire group. Wrong placement cuts your effective DPS by 60%.
Celestial Qi Master (Support / Hybrid)
- Base DPS: 180K at max level
- Healing Output: 45K HP/sec to nearby allies
- Cost: 900 Gold to deploy, 7,200 Gold to max upgrade
- Range: Large (18 tiles)
- Why it's essential: Celestial Qi Master is the only SSS unit that provides both meaningful DPS and healing. In Infinite Mode past Wave 60, your frontline units start taking chip damage from AOE enemy abilities. Without healing, you're replacing units constantly. With Qi Master, your team sustains indefinitely.
- Best Trait: Emperor (+25% DMG, +15% Range). The range increase pushes the healing aura to cover your entire setup. Apex is fine too, but Emperor is the optimal pick here.
Lava Admiral (Ground / AoE)
- Base DPS: 280K at max level (AoE)
- Apex Trait DPS: 390K AoE
- Cost: 1,100 Gold to deploy, 8,000 Gold to max upgrade
- Range: Medium (14 tiles)
- Why it matters: Pure wave clear. Lava Admiral's "Eruption" ability hits everything in a 6-tile radius every 4 seconds. For Infinite Mode, where waves of 30+ enemies flood in simultaneously, this is your primary clear tool for waves 1-70. Falls off a bit against tanky bosses, but nothing clears fodder faster.
- Best Trait: Apex for maximum AoE damage, or Speedster (+30% ATK Speed) if you want faster Eruption cycles.
Warning: Lava Admiral's Eruption has a 0.5-second cast animation where it stops attacking. Don't pair it with other units that have long cast times or you'll have DPS gaps that let enemies leak through.
Storm Titan (Ranged / DPS)
- Base DPS: 350K at max level
- Cost: 1,400 Gold to deploy, 9,000 Gold to max upgrade
- Range: Very Large (22 tiles)
- Why you want it: Storm Titan has the longest range in the game. It starts dealing damage before enemies even enter the range of your other units. In Infinite Mode Wave 80+, where enemies move 40% faster, that extra time-on-target is the difference between clearing and leaking.
- Best Trait: Apex. Storm Titan already has massive range, so Emperor's range bonus is overkill. Raw damage is what you need.
Frost Empress (Ranged / Support-CC)
- Base DPS: 150K at max level
- Slow Effect: 35% movement speed reduction, 50% with Apex
- Cost: 800 Gold to deploy, 6,500 Gold to max upgrade
- Range: Large (16 tiles)
- Why it's meta: Frost Empress doesn't kill things — she makes everything else kill things better. A 35% slow (50% with Apex) means every enemy spends significantly more time in your kill zone. In Infinite Mode, this is borderline mandatory past Wave 70.
- Best Trait: Apex (+40% DMG also increases slow to 50%). Speedster is a solid second choice for faster slow application.
Pro Tip: Place Frost Empress at the START of your kill zone, not the end. You want enemies slowed before they reach your DPS units, not after they've already passed through.
The SS Tier — Strong Picks for Specific Roles
These units won't carry alone but fill critical roles in any serious team.
| Unit | Role | DPS (Max) | Best Trait | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blood Demon | DPS / Lifesteal | 260K | Apex | Self-sustaining, great for positions without healer coverage |
| Spirit Fox | Support / Buffer | 90K | Emperor | +20% team DMG aura. Almost mandatory in optimized teams |
| Crystal Mage | Ranged / Burst | 300K burst | Apex | Huge burst every 8 seconds, weak between bursts |
| Dark Samurai | Ground / DPS | 240K | Speedster | Fast attack speed benefits more from Speedster than Apex here |
| Lightning Sage | Ranged / Chain | 200K | Emperor | Chain lightning hits 5 targets. Range makes chains reach further |
Team Composition Framework
Stop throwing random SSS units together and hoping for the best. Good teams follow a structure:
The Core 4:
- Primary DPS — Shadow Dragon or Storm Titan
- AoE Clear — Lava Admiral or Lightning Sage
- Support — Celestial Qi Master or Spirit Fox
- CC/Slow — Frost Empress
The Flex Slot:
- Wave 1-50: Another DPS (Blood Demon, Dark Samurai)
- Wave 50-80: A second support (Spirit Fox if you don't already have one)
- Wave 80+: Crystal Mage for boss burst phases
Warning: Never run a team without at least one slow/CC unit. I don't care how much DPS you have — fast enemies at Wave 60+ will leak through pure damage setups. Frost Empress or bust.
Budget Alternatives (A/B Tier Value Picks)
Not everyone has three SSS units. Here's what works when you're still building your roster:
- Iron Golem (A Tier) — 140K DPS, costs half the Gold of SSS units. Solid placeholder DPS until you pull Shadow Dragon.
- Vine Archer (B Tier) — Built-in 15% slow. Budget Frost Empress that actually works through Stage 3 of Story Mode.
- Flame Scout (B Tier) — Your free starter unit. Surprisingly decent if you max it out. Carries through Story Chapter 2 easily.
- Wind Walker (SS Tier) — Not budget in rarity, but cheap to deploy (600 Gold). Great early-round economy unit.
Story Mode vs. Infinite Mode Picks
The meta isn't identical across modes:
| Priority | Story Mode | Infinite Mode |
|---|---|---|
| #1 | Single-target DPS (Shadow Dragon) | AoE clear (Lava Admiral) |
| #2 | Burst damage (Crystal Mage) | Sustain/healing (Celestial Qi Master) |
| #3 | Speed clear (Wind Walker) | CC/slow (Frost Empress) |
Story Mode bosses have massive HP pools but come alone — you need concentrated single-target damage. Infinite Mode throws hordes at you — AoE and crowd control matter way more.
