Anime Expeditions Traits Guide
Traits add a persistent bonus to an individual unit. They do not replace the unit's base kit, and a rarer name is not automatically better for every role. Decide what the unit needs before opening the reroll screen.
Where to Reroll Traits
Go to the Upgrades area in the lobby and interact with the Trait Reroll machine. Select the exact unit instance, review its current Trait, and check the displayed cost and pity counters before confirming. Release documentation reports one Trait Crystal per reroll, but the live confirmation screen is authoritative.
Trait Crystals and Reroll Rules
A reroll replaces the current Trait; it is not a choice between old and new. Once confirmed, the previous roll cannot simply be restored. Codes are an immediate launch source, so check Anime Expeditions codes before farming. Story star rewards and later shops or modes may also supply reroll resources, but availability is patch-sensitive.
Set two rules before rolling: the lowest result you will keep and the maximum number of Crystals you will spend. Never start with a useful Trait and no reserve unless you accept finishing with a weaker result.
Trait Effects and Release Rates
The table focuses on role-relevant effects. Community launch tables report the shown rates, but these numbers are patch-sensitive and not an official permanent rate sheet. Verify every percentage and pity counter in the current Trait UI.
| Trait | Main reported effect | Reported release rate | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unbound | Very large damage, plus speed and range; one placement | 0.1% | A carry whose one-placement limit is acceptable |
| Primordial | Damage, faster attacks, and range | 0.2% | General DPS or CC application |
| Forsaken | Critical chance and critical damage | 0.3% | A kit that already benefits from critical hits |
| Draconic | Damage, damage-over-time, and lower cost | 0.5% | Burn, bleed, or other DoT units |
| Investor | More farm income | 2% | Dedicated economy units |
| Optics | More range | 3% | Support auras or coverage-limited units |
| Bolt | Faster attacks | 4% | DPS or frequent CC application |
| Precision I/II | Critical stats | 6% / 4% | Crit-enabled damage dealers |
| Limit Breaker | Damage | 6% | Budget DPS stopping point |
| Enlightenment | More EXP gained | 9% | Leveling a unit, not a final combat build |
Release tables also report separate pity thresholds for Unbound, Primordial, Forsaken, and Draconic. Because carry-over rules and thresholds can change, this guide does not treat those numbers as fixed. Read the counter beside the Trait in your session before budgeting Crystals.
Best Traits by Unit Role
DPS: prioritize the statistic the kit actually converts into damage. Primordial is broadly useful; Draconic is more purposeful on DoT kits; Forsaken requires critical synergy. A lower-rarity Bolt or Limit Breaker can be a sensible early stop.
Support: range can keep an aura or effect on more of the team. Attack speed matters only if it makes the support effect trigger more often. Raw damage may contribute little.
Farm: Investor is the clear role match for a unit whose job is income. Do not replace it merely to chase a rarer combat Trait.
CC: Bolt may apply slows or stuns more often, while Optics can increase lane coverage. Confirm that the unit's status effect follows its normal attacks or range before spending heavily.
Use the Anime Expeditions tier list to identify a unit's documented role, then judge the Trait separately from its tier.
When to Keep a Trait
Keep a roll when it solves the unit's job and your remaining Crystals are needed elsewhere. Investor on a permanent farm unit, strong range on a support, or attack speed on a reliable CC unit can be worth more to the roster than a rare mismatched effect. Reserve deep chases for a long-term carry, ideally after checking whether Evolution changes its role or placement count. New accounts should follow the beginner route before rerolling starter units.
Common Trait Mistakes
- Rerolling the right effect because its rarity color looks unimpressive.
- Chasing critical bonuses on a kit that has no useful crit interaction.
- Putting a combat Trait on a dedicated farm unit.
- Ignoring Unbound's one-placement tradeoff.
- Assuming published pity carries between units, banners, or patches.
- Spending all Crystals without defining a stopping result.
Verification Notes
Machine location, replacement behavior, effects, and release-rate table were cross-checked against MrGuider's launch Traits guide and Pro Game Guides' system overview. Rates and pity remain subject to live balancing.
